Here are my selections in order of finish:
Big Brown – Too much for these, will overcome the circus that is his connections.
Tale Of Ekati – Good race in the Derby, pointed to this, he gets up for second. Tagg seems to have him ready to go, and his 3/4 work in 12 move signals he is ready.
Denis Of Cork – Ran a corker in the Derby overcoming a bad trip. Like the horse above, he has been pointed to this race and will be a big factor in furlong 12.
Casino Drive – I am fascinated with this American bred colt from Japan. He is a half sibling to Jazil and Rags to Riches, both Belmont Stakes winners, and comes into this with only 2 races. The 950k yearling purchase is a very nice horse and his Japanese trainer has been here a long time, prepping him their way. If he wins this will be great for international racing. I love the way they train, totally different then the US, and admit I am rooting for this one. Their class has been nice to see, not knocking the other horses as Dutrow seems to enjoy doing.
Macho Again – Good second in the Preakness, should be there for a minor share.
Icabad Crane – Decent sort of colt, but this may be just a bit too tough.
Ready’s Echo – Not sure he ready for these.
Da’ Tara – Seems over matched here, but da trainer would run his poodle just to get into the spotlight.
Anak Nakal – If he can duplicate his Derby try, he can beat the maiden, maybe. But at least Zito can say he ran 2 more in Classics, for whatever that is worth.
Guadalcanal - Maiden Special Weight may have been a better spot.
